Christian was born on April 13, 1993 in Wellsville, NY to Darrin and Dawn Kelley-Cowher.
Christian attended Cuba-Rushford Central School, The College of Brockport, The Defense Language Institute, Coshise College, Strayer University, and recently received a Certificate in HVAC from TotalTech and National Certification Institute.
While attending high school he worked at Moonwinks Restaurant, Cuba, NY, and was the Notorious PIG at WPIG, Olean, NY. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was most recently employed by DKC Home Services, KY.
He was a member of The American Legion Post 655 and AMVETS Post 1, both in Cuba, NY.
He loved his family, and enjoyed playing basketball and football, recently playing with The Clarksville Rattlers TFA and TRI-City Outlaws both Minor League Football Teams based in Clarksville, TN. He was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had a passion for all animals, being in the outdoors, campfires, identifying horticulture, and wood-working.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Darrin Cowher; sister, Kelley Kubasti (Cowher); niece, Mera Swindell, nephew, Harrison Swindell; grandparents, Ronald and Velma Kelley, and Donald Cowher; and his best friend and former spouse, Catelyn Cowher (Ploetz). He also acted as a mentor and father figure to Noah Calhoun, age 3 and Harley Calhoun age 2 both of Clarksville, TN.
Memorial Service for Christian Cowher, 24, of Clarksville, TN will be on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 4:00 PM at The Cuba VFW Post #2721 in Cuba, New York. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00-4:00 PM. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow.
There will be a casual gathering for friends in Clarksville, TN on April 29, 2018.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Christian Cowher Memorial Foundation at Community Bank, N. A.
The Christian Cowher Memorial Foundation raises awareness for emotional abuse against men leading to suicide, and provide support to male victims of domestic abuse and toxic relationships.
