Clarksville

Alan L. Burgett 70, of Clarksville, TN (formerly of Hanna City, IL) passed away on January 29, 2026.

Alan, the beloved son of Dorothy Burgett Jepson and Olen and Dorotha DeRenzy Burgett, Jr., was born on October 17, 1955. They preceded him in death. He is survived by his sister, Vickie Manus, Clarksville; stepbrother Steven DeRenzy (Debby), Canton, IL; stepsister Christine DelMastro (Kevin), Lewistown, IL; step-nieces and nephews; step-grandnieces and grandnephews and a step-great-grandniece.

Alan was a graduate of Elmwood High School, Illinois Central Junior College, and Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. He received his BS degree in Wildlife Biology which served him well in his lifelong career at Wildlife Prairie Park. Alan had a unique connection and dedication to the park since his great grandfather’s homestead was the founding property of Wildlife Prairie Park and Alan lived in that family home through 2021. Alan began working in landscaping at the park while in high school and as the park evolved so did his jobs: habitat and trail construction, maintenance, animal care, ticket gate, security and operations.

Alan enjoyed his family, traveling, architecture, all things Christmas, and reading. As a Trekkie, he was especially drawn to science fiction entertainment.

Grave-side services will be Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Christ Church Limestone, Hanna City, IL. Father Harold Camacho and Kay Palmer will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wildlife Prairie Park, Hanna City, IL. Sykes Funeral Home, Clarksville, TN assisted with arrangements.
