Anthony Planes

March 4, 1932 — January 2, 2026

Anthony G. Planes, 93, of Knoxville, TN passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025. He was born on March 4, 1932 to Gene and Mary Planes in Tampa, FL.

Anthony proudly served his country in the United States Army as part of a medic unit during the Korean War, a role that reflected his lifelong commitment to caring for others. After his military service, he answered a higher calling and became an ordained Assembly of God minister, faithfully serving for more than 70 years. Anthony was an avid reader and a devoted prayer warrior. He had a fondness for junk mail, never turned down a good, feel-good Hallmark movie, and treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Above all else, Anthony loved sharing the story of how he met the love of his life, Delores, a story that was inseparable from his journey to Christ, as it was through meeting Delores that he found a relationship with the Lord.

In addition to his parents, Anthony is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Delores Mae Planes, siblings, Mary Gilbert, Jean Ares, and Eugene Planes. He is survived by his children, Debra Baldwin and her husband, Rick, Anthony G. Planes, II and his wife, Marcia, and Jeffery Ethan Planes and his wife, Rhonda, sister, Helen McLiverty, 8 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
