Etta June Dean

A Celebration of Life service for Etta June McWhorter Dean, age 88, of Clarksville TN, will be Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and again on Thursday from 10:30 AM until the time of service.

Etta was born on August 30, 1934 to the late George and Ora McWhorter and went home to be with the Lord on July 9, 2023. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Dudley, Wilson, Norman, Billy, and Ray; and sisters, Marie and Lucy. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Charles Dean; sons, Charles R. (Laura) Dean and Donald Wayne (Sandy) Dean; sister, Mary Alice; 4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

Etta graduated from Clarksville High School in 1952. She was office management at Montgomery Ward when Charles' work, the Bird Cage at Ft. Campbell, took them to Amarillo, TX. Upon retiring from Santa Fe Energy where she was a Data Entry Supervisor, she and Charles moved back to Clarksville to live in their home that they built in 1962. Etta loved flowers and gardening, traveling to different states and countries, and going on cruises.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
