James Madison Britt

A Celebration of Life service for James Madison Britt, age 82, of Cunningham, TN, will be Monday, January 22, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Hilldale Baptist Church (2001 Madison Street, Clarksville, TN 37043). Dr. Larry Robertson and Bro. Bryan Baggett will officiate. Burial will follow at Batson Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 21, 2024 at the church from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM and again on Monday from 11:00 AM until the hour of service. Pallbearers will be Lonnie Perigo, Ben Britt, Greyson Hawkins, Donavan McIntosh, Barry Batson, and Michael Batson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bubba Garrett, Johnny Ferrell, Larry Mixon, Bubba Travis, Don Trotter, Danny Britt, Shane Moore, Herb Patrick, and Wade Green.

James was born on October 31, 1941 to the late Johnny Britt and Ailene Bass Britt. He married his high school sweetheart Barbara Britt on July 1, 1962. He was the owner of Britt's Towing and Automotive for 35 years and was a member of Hilldale Baptist Church. James and Barbara loved to travel. They ventured to many places including Greece, Italy, Bahamas, and several trips in their motorhome.

In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his brothers, Lurton Britt and Larry Britt. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara, sisters: Shirley Britt, Martha Britt, Betty Britt, Hazel Britt, and Rachel Britt-Perigo (Lonnie); brother, Danny Britt (Joy); sons, Jeffery Madison Britt (Connie) and Walter Linn Britt; daughters, Sandra Leigh Britt Cortez (Mike) and Kendra Jo Britt Hawkins (Rex); grandchildren: Ben Madison Britt (Carrie), Rebekah Ann Britt Hargrove (Ryan), Kourtnee Jo Candler Taylor (Bradley), Donavan Madison McIntosh (Ashley), Morgan Leigh McIntosh, Madison Grace Hawkins, Lauren Nicole Britt, and Greyson Ezell Hawkins; great-grandchildren: Caroline Sue Britt, Sarah Lynn Britt, Evelyn Ann Hargrove, Charley Kate Hargrove, Bradlynn Barbara Taylor, and Batson James Taylor.
