John Matthews
October 30, 1940 — June 21, 2021
A Celebration of Life was held for John Morgan Matthews, Jr., age 80, of Clarksville, at Martha's Chapel United Methodist Church. Bro. Ben Falls officiated. He was laid to rest at Martha's Chapel Cemetery. John passed away on June 21, 2021. He was born on October 30, 1940 in Montgomery County, TN to John and Agnes Matthews.
John was a professor at Austin Peay State University. He enjoyed gardening, watching sports, and reading about WWII.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Matthews. He is survived by his wife of over 49 years, Nancy Frimel Matthews; sons: John (Rachael) Matthews, Samuel Matthews, and Robert (Amy) Matthews; grandchildren, Zaida and Felicity Matthews; and sisters, Betty Sue Hodges and Angie Sapp.
