A Celebration of Life service for Juanita Grace Baggett Mimms, age 94, of Clarksville, TN will be Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Sykes Funeral Home. John Mimms, her grandson, will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM and again on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
Juanita was born in Rockford, IL to Grace Wood Baggett and Ben Terrell Baggett. She was a graduate of Cedar Hill High School where she played six on six basketball. Juanita was in the first Girl’s State in 1947 and later attended APSU. Juanita even helped in the WWII effort growing sweet potatoes. She was a member of Oakland Church of Christ, a member of Lylewood Christian Camp as a counselor and a camp board member for 20 years, a member of the Country Women’s Club, the Montgomery County Home Demonstration Club, and worked at Life and Casualty Insurance Company. She was co-owner of the Catering Corner which produced many weddings, parties, cakes, and gingerbread houses. In the 1990's she participated in the Loew’s Vanderbilt World of Gingerbread competition. Juanita was a farmer’s wife, a homemaker, and loved cooking.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Joe Wisdom Mimms; siblings: Ruth (Sidney) Stine, Victor Baggett, Lelah (John) McClearen, Carol Stine, and David Stine.
Juanita is survived by her children: Mary (Tim) Schoettle, Joe Mimms, III, Ben Mimms, Bobby (Cathy) Mimms, Suzanne Mimms, Mark (Mindy) Mimms; grandchildren: Tyler Schoettle, Hunter Schoettle, John (Rebeca) Mimms, Mary Beth (Joseph) Suiter, Ben (Courtney) Mimms, Katherine Mimms, Daniel Mimms, Lara Mimms, Lindsey Mimms, Rachel (Marcus) Griffy, Rebecca (Jonny) Lee, Sarah Mimms, Tabitha Mimms, Sierra Mimms and Spencer Mimms; 7 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Juanita's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to give a special thanks and appreciation to caregivers Dianne Noel, Sarah McNair, Terry Rothman, Lisa Potter and Robin Wagenmaker.
