Lewis Belton Metts, Jr, age 84, died September 28, 2023 at Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville, TN. Born on September 12, 1939 in Gaffney, SC and was the son of Lewis, Sr and Fannie Corry Metts, He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Brenda O. Metts, his daughter Deborah J. McNiel and husband, Mark, of Clarksville, son Stephen D. Metts and wife, Carolyn, of Marietta, GA, and son Keith B. Metts and wife, Cindy, of Mechanicsburg, PA, and grandchildren Cara and Christopher Metts and Jennie and James McNiel. 

Lewis graduated from Davidson College in 1961 and later received his masters degree from the University of Georgia in 1973. 

He served honorably in the US Army, with two tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, The Air Medal, The Meritorious Service Medal, and The Army Commendation Medal, as well as The Airborne Badge. 

After his military service he spent his career in Administration with the Berry Company in various locations prior to retirement from Bellsouth in 1988.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville and was active for years in serving Loaves and Fishes to the hungry.

Lewis enjoyed worldwide travel, and sports with golf being his favorite. A member of the National Railway Historical Society since 1978. He was avid in railroad photography and visited shortline and industrial railroads all over the world.

A private Celebration of Life will be observed at the convenience of the family.
