Margaret Lorene Nesbitt, age 83, of Clarksville, Tennessee, passed away on February 2, 2026. She was born in Cleveland, Oklahoma, where she was raised before attending college in Edmond, Oklahoma where she earned her Bachelor’s degree. She later earned her Master’s Degree from Eastern New Mexico University, in Portales, NM.
After graduating, Margaret moved to Clovis, New Mexico, to begin her teaching career. It was there that she met the love of her life, Gene Nesbitt, when he and a fellow church member knocked on her door during visitation rounds for Sandia Baptist Church. Their connection was immediate and they married on August 7, 1965, less than a year after that first meeting. Over the next decade, their family grew with the arrival of their son, Brian, and daughter, Melissa. Margaret and Gene shared 46 wonderful years of marriage, building a life rooted in faith and family until Gene’s passing in 2011.
Margaret’s heart was her family and she never missed an opportunity to love on them. Whether she was embarking on a new adventure with Brian or celebrating a milestone with Melissa, Dave, and her grandchildren, her life was a joyful testament to those she loved most. In her quieter moments, she found delight in her audiobooks and cherished seeing family photos fill the "big screen”. She had such a creative spirit, often watching craft shows in search of new projects to share with her great-grandchildren. Her favorite day was “family day,” when the house was filled with great food, laughter, and the occasional game of Uno. Margaret was always ready with a big hug and a word of encouragement that will be missed by all who knew her.
While there will be a great void in the lives of all who knew her, this world was not her home and someday we will see her again.
“For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.” Hebrews 13:14
She is survived by her son, Brian Nesbitt of Fort Worth, Texas; her daughter, Melissa Parmer and her husband, Dave Parmer, of Clarksville, Tennessee; her granddaughter, Hannah Buchholz and her husband, Sam Buchholz, of Clarksville, Tennessee; her grandson, Greyson Parmer of Clarksville, Tennessee; her great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Teddy, and Charlotte Buchholz of Clarksville, Tennessee; and her sister, Emma Yarnell of Dell City, Oklahoma.
A memorial service will be Friday, February 20, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the time of service.
