Marie Paulette Austin, age 79, of Clarksville, Tennessee, peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord on February 23, 2026, her birthday, completing a beautiful life that began on February 23, 1947.
Born in Slayden, Tennessee, Marie was the cherished daughter of the late John Henry Mixon and Katie Mae Hutchison-Mixon. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, treasured sister, proud grandmother, nurturing great grandmother and faithful servant of God whose life was defined by love, strength, and unwavering faith. Marie’s greatest pride and joy were not in possessions or achievements, but in her family. Every title she held reflected her purpose and the love she poured into each of us.
Marie shared 59 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Charles Austin. Together they built a life rooted in faith, love, and devotion, a love story that lives on through their children Karen Michael (Preston), Paula Austin-Drugmand (Dennis), and Amy Austin (John), their cherished grandchildren Katie Michael, Joshua Michael, Alyssa Michael, Brennen Gibson, Van Drugmand, and Blane Gibson, and the joy of their great-grandchildren Christian Michael, Conner Michael, Vanessa Michael, and Voughn Michael.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry Mixon and Katie Mae Mixon, and her siblings Betty Potter, Jimmy Mixon, Gail Rogers, and Lisa Falk. She leaves behind her loving brother, Ricky Mixon, along with a family who will cherish her memory always.
Marie had a radiant personality that naturally drew people to her. She loved adventures with her husband and treasured traveling with her daughters, turning every trip into a cherished memory. She never met a stranger, often making friends in the simplest of places, even while picking out produce at Wal-Mart. Her warmth, curiosity, and genuine care for others left a lasting mark on everyone she met. Gentle as a teddy bear, yet strong and protective like a mama bear, Marie’s presence was both comforting and inspiring.
Today, we stand together with heavy hearts, yet hearts filled with deep gratitude for the beautiful life of our mother, Marie P. Austin.
The pallbearers are Marie’s grandsons and great-grandsons.
