Clarksville

 A Celebration of Life service for PO1 Jay Alan Emerson, NAVY (Ret), age 61, of Clarksville, TN, will be Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Sykes Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Pastor Ronnie Raines will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service. 

Jay was born on February 27, 1963 in Chicago, IL, to Boyd and Lola Emerson. He passed away on May 5, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Jay retired from the United States Navy after 21 years of service. A Southern Baptist by faith, Jay was the owner of J's Plumbing & Drain Cleaning, a member of American Legion Post 289 and Sons of the American Revolution. His greatest joy was being "Papa Jay" to his grandchildren and spending time with his family. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Emily Emerson and sister, Brenda Radford. Jay is survived by his wife of 33 years, Mitzi Kennedy Emerson; son, Zachary (Kelsey) Emerson; siblings: Donna Emerson-Johnston, Gregory (Sharon) Emerson, and Scott (Linda) Emerson; grandchildren: Kellen Schmidt, Uriajah Emerson, and Ledger Emerson; and brother-in-law, Al Radford.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare and Tennessee Oncology.
