Sfc John Hampton, Army (Ret)

A Graveside service for SFC John Allen Hampton, ARMY (Ret), age 80 of Clarksville, will be Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 9:00 AM at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, KY. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home. John passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021. John entered this life on September 4, 1940 to the late John and Jennie Pauline Hampton.

He was a proud veteran of the military and after he retired from the army, he was a parts manager at Batie Mazda, he drove a school bus for CMCSS and he was a retired  bus driver for CTS Clarksville Transit System.

He was a strong man of God and was a member of First Baptist Church of Clarksville and enjoyed spending time with his family, he was so proud of all his children and  his grandchildren. He always had a smile on his face when he talked of his family. He loved listening to music and spending time outdoors. He was very personable and never met a stranger, he always did his best to make you smile and know you were special when he was around you whether in conversation or passing out candy he always had in his pocket, it was his way of showing love for others.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Hampton; and siblings: Harlon, Paul, Eugene, and Edna. John is survived by his daughters, Sheryl (Wayne) Richardson and Lisa (Daniel) Lewellen; son, Marc (Christy) Hampton; brother, Marvin Hampton; grandchildren: Brent (Jordan) Richardson, Mataia Hampton, Holden Hampton, Sarah Grace Lewellen, Baytley Cardwell, Tyler Evitts, Landen Evitts, and Emajen Ratliff; and great-granddaughter, Briella Richardson.
