William J. "Bill" Bayer of Cumberland City, formerly of Memphis, passed away July 9, 2025. He is preceded in death by his wife Dora Elaine Bayer, and great-grand-daughter, Ansley Pilkington.
Bill graduated W.T. Thomas High School in 1952. He attended Sailor's Rest and other community churches in Cumberland City. Bill was a member of the Masons Lodge, Stewart Co. Amateur Radio Club, and participated in various community activities. He also served in the US Navy. Bill spent his work career in Memphis in the paint industry as a salesman and store manager for Sherwin Williams, Devoe, and Glidden Paint.
He is survived by his companion and high school friend Christine Byrd; daughters: Beverly Pilkington (Kevin), Suellen Dargan (Jim), and Janet Hance (Keith); four grandchildren: Robert Pilkington (Ashley), Sally Zidek (John), Austin Tobler (Jeffery), and Audry Hance; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Sykes Funeral Home on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. A graveside service will be announced at a later date.
