David Gresham

David Ragon Gresham, age 82, of Clarksville, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, November 5, 2021 after a recent illness. A  Graveside service will be held at 11 am on Monday, November 15, 2021 at Greenwood Cemetery with Bro. Terrell Marcom officiating and Sykes Funeral Home directing.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Maud Marie Gudgel Gresham and Noble Ragon Gresham; his siblings, Noble Linn Gresham, Mary Gresham Goostree, and John Thompson Gresham; his brother-in-law, James Henry Goostree and his sister-in-law, Sara Francis Gresham.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Evelyn Bell Gresham of Chester, South Carolina; nieces and nephews, John Gresham, Nancy Gresham, Charles Gresham, Susan Goostree Allen, Jimmy Tom Goostree, Rebecca Goostree, and Louisa Goostree Marchant; great nieces and great nephews, and a great, great niece and two great, great nephews.

David was born on September 4, 1939 in Clarksville, Tennessee. He graduated from Clarksville High School and attended Austin Peay State University.  For most of his life, David attended First Baptist Church of Clarksville, and in recent years, he attended Excell Baptist Church of Excell.

David was dedicated to sharing Christ’s love with others and sincerely wanted every person to know Jesus Christ as his/her Savior. He also loved planting amaryllises, reading, and spending time with his cat, Princess as well as visiting Cracker Barrel, Waffle House, and Chick-Fil-A.

Pallbearers are Phillip Jarrell, Bill and Janice Peacher, and Ivan Adler. The family is very grateful to their kindness shown to David over the years.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts be made in David’s name to Excell Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Clarksville.
