Frances Johnson

August 27, 1933 — November 6, 2020

Frances L. Daniel Johnson, 87, Greenbrier, passed from this life on Friday, November 6, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services (for immediate family only due to Covid) will be conducted Tuesday, November 10th at 10:00 AM at Sykes Funeral Home in Clarksville, TN. Internment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Goodlettsville, TN.
Frances was born on August 27, 1933 in Carthage, Tennessee to the late John and Ruby (Goolsby) Daniel. At the time of her death she was a beloved member of McFerrin Missionary Baptist Church in Madison, Tennessee.

Frances married the love of her life, Willard Carthell Johnson, when she was 17 years old. Eleven short days later, he was shipped out to serve the army in the Korean War for 18 months. While in Korea, he was called by the Lord to preach. Upon his return home, they settled into married life and he went on to pastor five congregations while she served as a faithful preacher’s wife.

Carthell and Frances enjoyed 39 loving years of marriage before his passing in 1990. During their marriage they raised three daughters: Kathy (David) Valdez, Deborah Johnson and Tamesa (Michael) Parker. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Jeremy Fountain, Katrina (Gerald) Davis, Tori Parker, Mike Parker and Matthew Parker. Great grandchildren: Dylan Clay, Gerald Davis III and Tyler Davis. Aunt: Shirly Goolsby Rodgers. As well as many loving nieces, nephews, and in-laws from the Johnson family. In addition to her parents and husband, she’s preceded in death by her sister Patricia Faye Wilson.

Frances loved to sing gospel hymns and play piano but more than anything she loved to spread the word of God and gave Him thanks in all that she did, every day. Countless family and friends referred to her as an angel on Earth. She was God loving, steadfast, joyful, soft-spoken and kind hearted. She always had a reassuring smile on her face in a prayer offered for everyone that she encountered. For all who knew her, she made life special.
