Henrietta Matiella

August 5, 1935 — February 20, 2021

Henrietta Matiella was born on August 5, 1935 in Shelby, Mississippi to the union of Phin and Sophie Shannon.  She was the eldest of 11 children in this union.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers: Phin Jr, Milton, Joe, Donnie, and Edward.   She was also the eldest of 15 other loving siblings.  Her brothers Victor and Charlie also preceded her in death.

She received her education from the Shelby, Mississippi school system.  In 1965, after a brief stay in Chicago, Henrietta relocated to Saint Louis, MO.  She was an employee at Holiday Inn for many years before moving on to work in custodial services at Washington University where she retired.  She relocated to Clarksville, TN in 2017.

At an early age, Henrietta was baptized in a river in Mississippi.  In 1982 she rededicated her life to Christ and was saved, sanctified, baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost.  She worshiped under the leadership of the late Superintendent Robert C. Williams Sr. at the National Memorial Church of God in Christ.  Later she worshiped under the guidance of Pastor Timothy Green at the National Memorial St. Louis Holy Temple Church of God in Christ.  Mom was very active in the church and loved playing the guitar, singing in the choir, cooking and fishing with her friends.  We often heard her playing and singing her favorite song "Everything in You Got to Come Out"

God called our dear mother home on February 20, 2021.  Henrietta’s eldest son, Stonnie Lee Campbell preceded her in death.  She leaves to cherish her loving memories one son: Charles Edward Matiella of Washington, DC and five daughters: Patricia Matiella, Linda Lawrence (Dorsey), and Charlotte McClendon of St. Louis, MO; Lakeisha Matiella of Kansas City, MO; and Latonya Matiella of Clarksville, TN.
