James Norris

A Celebration of Life service for James Elijah Norris, age 79 of Clarksville, will be Friday, August 23, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Sykes Funeral Home. Bro. Larry Cue will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. James passed away on Friday, August 16, 2019 at Tennova Healthcare. He was born on January 22, 1940 in Alexandria, LA to Elijah and Carrie Lee Norris. James loved to draw, watch old western movies, play cards, and enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by grandsons, De'Airon Smith and Omar McKnight; siblings: Willie Norris, Ethel Bender, and Grady Norris; and son-in-law, Elliott McKnight. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mamie Holmes Norris; children: Dwayne Smith, Shawana (David) Smith, and Sheryl McKnight; grandchildren: Trumain McKnight, Delvin McKnight, De'Shawn (Brittany) Rose, Angile Monday, and De'Shawn Jarred; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Leon (Annie) Norris, Sr. and Wilbert Norris; and a host of nieces and nephews.
