Lela Ham

A Celebration of Life service for Lela Mae Ham, 89, of Clarksville, TN, will be Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 29, 2022 from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM and again on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of service.

Lela was born on January 17, 1933 in Springfield, TN to Chat and Myrtle Tanner Bottoms. She passed away on June 26, 2022. Lela was a member of the St. Bethlehem United Methodist Church and a 1952 graduate of Clarksville High School. She retired from Montgomery County School System after 37 years. During that time she was the first secretary when Moore Elementary School opened it's doors, a bookkeeper at Greenwood Jr. High, and ended her career in the payroll department at Central Office. She enjoyed reading, flowers, quilting and cross stitch, sewing and lace work, and crocheting in her free time.

In addition to her parents, Lela is preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Jimmie Ham. She is survived by her daughter, Emily (Glenn) Matthews; brother, James Bottoms; grandchildren, Iain and Niall Matthews; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ham; and nephew, Billy Simmons. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lela's caregiver and friend, Vicky Horton.
