Mary Owens

Mary Magdalene Owens, 91, of Clarksville, TN, was born, the fourth of fifteen children, to the late Lester and Laurie Lee (Guyton) Curry, on May 20, 1929.  Mary departed this earthly life, November 24, 2020. A Celebration of Life service will be held on December 4, 2020 at 12:00 PM at First Assembly of God. The family will receive friends on the day of service from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Mary married Jesse Edward Owens in 1950.  She was a military wife who traveled around the world with her husband, until they made their home in Clarksville, Tennessee.  She has been a faithful member of, First Assembly of God Church since 1974.  She was an active member of the Women's Ministries, the Sanctuary Choir, the tape ministry, and the Senior Saints, until her health prevented her from participating.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jesse Edward Owens; her great grandson, Robert Mitchell; her daughter-in-law, Kaz Owens; and her siblings:  Lizzie Dean, Helen Wardlaw, Catherine Newell, Barbara Jean Foreman, Mildred Gambrell, Bertha Curry, and Bathsheba Timpson.

She leaves to mourn her passing, eight children:  Angela Owens-Campbell of Fort Eustis, VA;  Jesse F. (Lupita) Owens of Clarksville, TN;  Theresa Owens of Columbia, SC;  Preston Owens of York, PA;  Antonio Rescueman of Clarksville, TN;  Mitzi (Tommy) Jenkins of Covington, GA;  Pixie (Michael) Vaughn of Stonecrest, GA; and Michael Owens-Masters of Nashville, TN.

She also leaves her sisters and a brother:  Thomasine Glass, Julia Reeves, Betty Vizcarrondo, Margaret Holmes, Joanne (Tootsie) Curry, Sarah Stewart, and Lester Curry, Jr.; and sister-in-law Rosa (Owens) Williams.

Along with 13 Grandchildren, 28 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
