Renate Parker

April 12, 1950 — August 5, 2020

On Wednesday, August 5, 2020, Renate Herta Parker, loving wife and mother to three children, passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 70. Renate was born on April 12, 1950 in the Bavarian village of Kleinsteinach to Ernst & Frieda (Triebel) Geiger. On September 6, 1979 she married Jimmy Parker and together they raised three children, Matthias, Terry, and Patricia.

Renate had a heart bigger than Texas. She spent her life taking care of people. First, she spent her early adult years as a nurses’ aide and then as a supportive Army wife and mother. Though the military life meant lots of moving, she was always able to immediately make a new place feel like home. Her favorite way to explore a new place was to go on adventures with the goal of getting lost until we found our way back home. Renate was a strong-willed, stubborn, persuasive, wrye, and fierce force to be reckoned with. She was also immensely thoughtful, caring, compassionate, funny, and so full of life. She loved cooking good food and feeding the people she loved, playing cards, going dancing, and going for walks with her sweetheart. Renate was proud of her husband, of her children, of her grandchildren, of her family, and of her friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all of those who loved her.

Renate was preceded in death by her father, Ernst (1981), Frieda (1988), and her sisters Mildred (1991) and Erika (1996). She is survived by her husband, Jimmy, and their children Matthias (Karen ), Terry (Daniela), Patricia (Benjamin). She will be missed by her grandchildren Patrick, Robin, Rebecca, Julian, Elliott, and Abilene. She will also be missed by her sister, Christa, and her nephews, Thomas (Nancy) and Billy (Debbie).

A celebration of Renate’s life will be held at a later date tbd. The family would like to celebrate and mourn together - and, for now, with an ocean between us, that’s not possible. If you’d like to have your own remembrance, may we suggest playing a song that reminds you of her  - and if you don’t have one, she suggested My Way by Sinatra.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Clarksville Ajax Turner Senior Center.
