Herbert Dominy

Herbert Irvin Dominy, 79, of Clarksville, Tennessee, passed away on September 25, 2026.

Herbert was born on June 13, 1947, in Irwinton, Georgia, to Alton and Rosa Lee Dominy. He earned his undergraduate degree from North Georgia, where he formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. He then served in the United States Army before earning his master’s degree from Mercer University. Herb spent his career with Georgia Power Company, where he worked until his retirement.

Herbert was happiest spending time with Sandy, his wife of 55 years, and the family and friends he loved. He enjoyed a round of golf, duck hunting with his son, and traveling with Sandy to nearly all 50 states, many in their camper. He loved eating out while catching up with friends, but was also content at home with a documentary or cheering on the University of Alabama football team. He believed in working hard, making the most of an opportunity, and helping others do the same.

He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings. He is survived by his wife, Sandy Wortham Dominy; his daughter, Tracie Kleine, and her husband, Todd; his son, M. Ryan Dominy, and his wife, Beth; his grandchildren, Ashley Dominy, Audrey Kleine, and Madison Kleine; his sister, Elaine Chapman, and her husband, Neal; and his brother, Edwin Dominy, and his wife, Jan.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Georgia Funeral Care, 4671 S. Main Street, Acworth, Georgia. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the University of North Georgia (UNG Give) in his memory.
